RUGBY AND NORTHAMPTON LADIES

IMPRESS IN NATIONAL ROAD RELAYS

Club finish strongly at event in Birmingham

Rugby & Northampton’s ladies had seven runners taking part in the National 4 Stage Road Relay over the weekend, finishing 74th out of a 111-strong field at Sutton Park in Birmingham.

Zoe Sheperd was the quickest home, completing the first leg in a time of 18 minutes and 26 seconds, before Helen Jones (19:36) and Minerva Chesser (20:50) followed her up with impressive efforts.

Tilly Lea ran the final leg in a time of 22:51, which elevated the club from 80th to their final position of 74th, and 55th among the competing A teams.

The B string featured just three runners, resulting in no final position, but take nothing away from the competing athletes. Catherine Williams kicked things off in 20:27, Efi Katsogianni was next in 22:09, and Patricia Garner ran the third leg in 22:54.

R&N were the top club representing the two counties, and ranked 15th out of the 22 Midlands clubs on show.
