The newly promoted Ladies Cross Country team from Rugby & Northampton competed at Clopton Park in Stratford upon Avon. This was the second race in Division One of the Midland Womens League and Lucy Stevens repeated her position from race one to lead home the club again in 14th place over a 6k course with 26:25.
Kat Hemmington was 65th overall and 14th in the master’s race with 30:05 while Alice Bacon clinched 86th spot with 31:18. Two veterans from the club crossed the line together and were given the same time of 31:41, but it was Alison Cobb who was given the verdict over Lorna Latimer in 95th and 96th respectively. This helped the team to 12th position on the day with the master’s finishing 8th.
Making her league debut was 18-year-old Elspeth Unitt who was the 20th Junior in the race and 117th overall in 33:31. The rest of the squad was made up of master’s athletes with Lyndsey Owen just holding off Helen Jones to finish 124th and 126th respectively (34:15 and 34:23). Katie Franklin was 142nd in 36:06 followed by Angela Copson BEM (160th in 37:38) and Effie Katsogianni (168th in 38:54).
