The Rugby & Northampton U13 and U15 teams took to the Coventry track for the final round of the UKYDL Premiership match in the knowledge that a place in the regional finals was already assured but they again performed magnificently to claim yet another win.
The day started with heavy showers, which effected many of the early events but this did not hinder the R & N hurdlers as they recorded a string of impressive victories for Darcey Ridgeway, Romy Earle, Grace McCollin, Penelope Jones, Sonny Briggs-McKellar and Zak Thorpe. The victories flowed throughout the day with the throwers dominating proceedings with superb performances and victories for Jack Hancock, Giane Marsella, Nate Tilt, Oliver Harrison, Grace O Malley, Alex Philips, Martha Pollard, Lily Riding, Riley Michaels, James Taylor, Eva Birkinshaw, Ava Hession and Martha Lee – topped off with a impressive 48m for Moyo Stumpenhusen in the discus – just short of the all time league record.
On the track, there were A string victories for Laike Favier 800m, Olivia McGhee 1500m, Riley Michaels 75m and Ava Hession 150m. The day was topped off with some high level relays, with the U13 girls stealing the show with a magnificent performance in the last race of the day
The team will now take part in the Midlands/Wales Regional final on the 22nd July and if they are in the first two in this match, they will qualify for the National Finals in Manchester in September
