Foursome continue their good starts

Victories and PBs secured at Cambridgeshire meeting

Four of Rugby & Northampton Athletic Club’s athletes continued their progress in 2014 with solid displays at the Cambridgeshire Open Throws meeting on Saturday.

Kiona McLennon, in the under 17 women’s age group, took part in her first new-for-2014 3kg weight competition and put in a series of consistent throws, winning the competition with a best distance of 12m 21cm.

In the same age category Evie Harris-Jenkins recorded a personal best in the hammer discipline, reaching 34m 21cm and finishing sixth in what was her first competition since September.

Harriet Sumnall’s very promising start to 2014 in the under 20 women’s discus continued with a solid 28.02cm to finish sixth while Megan Exley won the under 20 women’s javelin with a throw of 35m 29cm, despite facing a vicious cross-wind that made life difficult for all competitors.

R&N’s athletes now look forward to their home Open Meeting on Saturday 12th April.
