The best team performance from Rugby & Northampton in the Warwickshire Cross Country Championships came from the Veteran Men who finished in 2nd place.
The four man team of Stephen Marks ( 6th in 38:10 ), Mike Andrews (7th in 39:18), Paul Birch (14th in 40:31) and Richard Latimer (17th in 40:43) finished just four points behind Kenilworth to clinch the silver medals over the 10k course at Leamington’s Newbold Comyn.
Marks crossed the line 19th overall in the combined Senior/Masters race.
The best individual performance from the club was achieved by Cian Hutton in the U15 Boys 4k event when he claimed 6th spot with 15:28 and with back up from Dominic Dewes (32nd in 18:31) and Jake Louis (35th in 19:08) the team finished in seventh place.
The only other complete team was in the U13 Girls section with Elspeth Unitt leading them home in 13th position when she recorded 14:32 over the 3k route. Helping the squad to finish in 5th place were Sophia Hill (14th in 14:41) and Zoe Gardner (16th in 14:56 ).
Top ten finishes were achieved by Georgina Woodward in the U15 Girls 4k (8th in 18:04) and Finn Hutton also 8th on 24:35 in the U17 Men’s 6k.
Hutton was followed home by Rhys James (11th in 25:09) and Olivia Sheehan duplicated that position in the U17 Womens race with 24:45 over the 5k distance.
