The annual Midlands Road Relays took part at Sutton Park, Birmingham and Rugby & Northampton AC were to the fore.
In the women’s race, Megan Stenhouse started for R & N and produced a stunning performance to finish in 3rd position in one of the fastest time of the day. The second leg saw Alice Belcher make a successful return from injury as she brought the home in 4th position. Lucy Stevens then stormed through the field with an outstanding run and passed the baton to Jo Harris, who brought the team home in a really impressive 7th position – just a few seconds away from a medal in a really tight race.
The men faired even better, in an even tighter race !!! The first leg saw Finlay Ward finish in an incredible 3rd position on the first leg and this positive start was continued by Matthew Everett and Louis Starr on the next two legs. International triathlete, Louis Buttrick, then stormed through to again put R & N in a medal position. The race was now incredibly tight, as Noah Bennett and Luke Greer brought the team home – eventually finishing in 5th position – the club’s second best position ever.
