Rugby & Northampton’s senior men looked to bounce back after a disappointing first race of the Birmingham cross country league cross and they did so with an outstanding performance in Wolverhampton. The three lap grassland course afforded flat, fast running conditions and this seemed to suit the R & N runners.
Track specialist, Adam Wright, showed that his winter training is going really well as he impressed with an outstanding run to finish in 12th position. Not far behind in 17th, was Dominic Jones, running his first race since his record breaking run in the London marathon. Haydn Arnall was a few steps behind in 23rd, whilst Duncan Birtwistle had a fine run to finish in 45th position. R & N then had two U20 athletes making their debut over the longer distance. Dominic Evans finished in 69th position whilst Ned Gilford finished in 100th position. The team was completed by Mark Johnson. This meant that R & N finished in 6th out of the 16 clubs.
