Rugby & Northampton AC took to the Rugby track in their second UKYDL Upper competition, knowing that a repeat performance of the first match would see them assured of a position in the regional finals and the team did not disappoint !
The day started with positively with induvial victories in the 400m hurdles for both Oliver Parker, U20M and Elliot Godfrey U17M, both with personal best performances. The victories continued throughout the day with outstanding performances in all areas – sprints, endurance, throws and jumps. There were many notable performances: In the female events there were individual victories for Savannah Morgan, Olivia Monk, Evie Marston, Isabella Mur, Isabella Banks, Maia Thompson, Jemima Cooper, Darcie Potten, Ruby Edwards, Caitlin Boyle, Hayley Dimond and Charlotte Bowers.
For the male section, there were victories for Oke Okere, Clinton Igbo, Jayden Allen Bramble, Dylan Mander, Arthur Tilt, Ben Smith, Flynn Ridgeway, David Oduwusi, Ethan Woods, Gabe Mayall, Josh Mozely, Joel Masters, Morrie Parker, Louis Starr, Jasper Cooper and Thomas Brinkley.
The relays also showed the strength of the R & N team with victories in five of the races with the U17W 4 x 100m stealing the limelight with a new club record of 48. 43 secs.
The result of the match saw R & N score a record points score of 744 points – over 230 points clear of nearest rivals, Birchfield. The third match will take place in Birmingham on June 25th
