After claiming victory in the first UKYDL Midlands Premiership match, hopes were high of a repeat performance and the athletes did themselves and the club proud. This Upper age group league is for U17 and U20 athletes with each club fielding two athletes in each event with the overall winner being calculated based on accumulated points.
R & N scored over 750 points, with the nearest challenger, Marshal Milton Keynes over 300 points behind.
The performance came as a result of a whole host of outstanding performances and personal bests. In the U20 men, Oliver Parker recorded 52.9 secs in the 400m hurdles, whilst Morrie Parker and Saaed Numeiri completed an outstanding double in the 400m. The throws saw a clean sweep for R & N athletes as Gabe Mayall, Archie Street and Rhys Owen dominated proceedings.
There was a similar set of incredible results throughout the day from the whole team with the relays crowing off the afternoon as the U17M 4 x 100m team raced to a UK leading time of 43.4.secs whilst the mixed U20 4 x 400m team also posted the fastest time in the UK this year with 3 mins 39.
The final match in the series of three, takes place at the Rugby track and a top three finish will ensure qualification to the prestigious National Final to be held in Manchester on September 1st
