Rugby and Northampton AC continued there impressive 100% start in all league competitions with team victory in the second UKYDL match held at Rugby. The event was severely impacted by athletes having to self-isolate but many stepped up to the mark and took their opportunity to represent the club and did themselves proud. There were numerous outstanding performance from all age groups with the U13 girls dominating, winning no less than 7 of the 9 individual events. There were victories for Alice Berrill, javelin, Grace McCollin, hurdles, Olivia McGhee, 1200m, Afua Agordo, shot and a Isabelle Knight in the 75m, 150m and high jump.
The U13 boys also excelled with outstanding victories for Jacob Vural, hurdles, Abbas Hazra-Corte, 75m, Moyo Stumpenhusen ,shot putt and Oliver Harrison, javelin.
The U15 boys were hardest hit with isolating issues but those that did compete, did themselves proud with individual victories going to Harry Pritchett, hurdles, Josh Sothcott 300m and Nathan Lamb in the 1500m.
The final group, the U15 girls also performed superbly with individual victories for Ella Darby, 800m and Sage Westbury, high jump.
The climax of the meeting saw the relays !! The U13 boys powered to victory in a scorching 53.0 sec – the second quickest time in the country this year. But the highlight of match saw the U15 girls 4 x 100m team of Olivia Monk, Isabella Banks, Isabelle Mur and Ella Darby cruise to a new club record of 51.0 seconds – also the second quickest time in the country this year. The match was in the balance throughout with the lead changing between R and N and Milton Keyes AC but the victory was secured in the final event of the match – the boys 4 x 300m !! Well done to all those that took part. The next league match is on the 29th August.
