Rugby & Northampton AC’s U13s and U15s travelled to the Commonwealth stadium in Birmingham knowing that a win would secure a position in the UKYDL Lower regional finals and the young athletes did not disappoint !
Victories on both the track and the field came thick and fast with outstanding performances in all areas. Liam Mumbere jumped to No 1 in the country with a 1 m 50 clearance in the U13 boys high jump whilst Isabelle Knight produced one of the fastest runs in the country by an U15 girl. Damilola Ajagunna had a stellar day with wins in both the javelin and high jump U13 girls. The hurdlers produced win after win with Grace McCollin producing an amazing 11.4 secs in winning the U15 80m hurdles. The throwers also really impressed with Moyo Stumphenhusen claiming a double in the U15B shot and discus.
The overall result never seemed in doubt as R & N raced to victory, winning by over 100 points from local rivals Milton Keynes AC.
The third round will take place on 8th July in Coventry, with the regional finals two weeks later on the 22nd July.
