Rugby and Northampton AC youngsters continued their unbeaten form of the cross country season with another emphatic win the third West Midlands Cross Country League. Races were run over flat parkland and the ground allowed for fast running conditions which the R and N athletes took full advantage of. The U11 boys team finished 3rd and were led home by David Allen in 8th position whilst the U13 boys saw Abbaz Hazra and Emilio Fernandez lead the way for the R and N team. The U15 boys team really excelled beating high class opposition from Birmingham as they claimed victory with Malachy Collins leading the way in 3rd, followed closely by Arthur Tilt, Nathan Lamb and Ollie Walls. Dominic Evans claimed an excellent 5th position in the U17 race and he was ably supported by Louis Starr and Jasper Cooper not far behind.
The U11 girls team claimed victory for the first time this year with a stellar run from Elsie Bennett in 4th position with Amelie Heron only a few seconds behind. The U13 girls repeated previous victories with Olivia McGhee storming to another dominant race victory.
The U15 girls had perhaps their best race of the season, with Ella Darby leading the way in 4th position, followed closely by Ava Rogerson, Rebecca Eaton, Ava Farren and Amelie Budd-Beynon. The U17 womens race saw Madeleine Jacks claim the bronze medal position as did the team. After 3 rounds of the league, Rugby and Northampton AC lie in first position – a position they will look to consolidate in the final two fixtures in the new year.
