Rugby & Northampton produced another winning performance last Sunday at Burbage Common, Leicestershire, maintaining their 100 per cent record in the West Midlands Young Athletes Cross Country League, after four rounds of the competition.

It was a brilliant day for the U11s with the boys and girls teams also securing gold-medal finishes. In an outstanding individual performance, Amy Walker (13:43) ran home as the U15G winner. On top of Walker’s impressive outing, 11th place for Hollie Moore (14:34) along with points from Georgina Woodward (14th, 14:44), Abi Pearce (21st, 15:11) and Lucy Stevens (22nd, 15:11) helped the team finish second in the age group.

The final round of the competition is at Perry Park in Birmingham, although R&N may go into the round missing some big names. The 14th February meeting coincides with the East Midlands Mini-Marathon trials, in which many Northamptonshire-based athletes will be competing, looking to secure a place in the junior races supporting the London Marathon in April.
