The annual Northants Cross Country Championships took place at a rain swept Glebe Park, Corby on Saturday and Rugby and Northampton athletes turned in a stellar performance claiming six of the individual titles and no less than eight of the ten team titles.
The senior men’s race saw Haydn Arnall claim the County title as he raced away in the final km to claim an impressive victory, as William Gardner claimed bronze. The senior ladies from R and N were also victorious with Emma Bond claiming the bronze medal and Megan Stenhouse claiming the U20 individual title.
The younger athletes also excelled! In the U11 girls race, Elsie Bennett won the individual title whilst Amelie Heron claimed bronze with the team also claiming the gold – a similar result for the U11 boys where Alex Kampta won the individual bronze and the team took gold. The U13 girls saw Olivia McGhee maintain her winning streak as she claimed gold, as did the team. The U13 boys also were victorious with Jake Clarke leading in the R and N contingent.
Ella Darby won the silver medal in the U15 girls race and the U15 boys race saw R and N athletes claim an incredible clean sweep of medals, with Arthur Tilt in first, Ben Smith in second and Nathan Lamb in third. In the final categories, the U17 races, Jemima Lambert claimed an individual bronze, as did Louis Starr, who led the R and N team to yet another team gold. An outstanding day from the R and N athletes both young and old.
