Sally Hine in the space of a fortnight has claimed 8 British indoor Athletic titles and 2 national records. The Rugby & Northampton AC athlete entered the women’s 70 age group this year and set her sights high aiming for the European indoor championships in Portugal this month. Unfortunately this is not to be due to restrictions imposed in Portugal in the face of the corona virus.
In the build up to this event Sally has targeted the British Championships down at Lee Valley over the past 2 weeks. At the end of February she claimed her first title in the Indoor Pentathlon breaking the British Record by over 500 points and also setting a new indoor 60mHurdles record on route. The following weekend she helped the Midlands to an inter area victory. Then over the last weekend she took on 7 individual events in the British Championships.
Carrying on from her previous hurdles victory, Sally lowered her own British indoor W70 60mH time, in a photo-finish with an ex-teammate, to 12.19s; both having the same time to the 1/100th of a second. Sally claiming the title by a dip. Following this came 6 more titles; 60m (10.20) PB, shot (6.13m), high jump (1.05m), long jump (2.94m), triple jump (6.70m PB), 200m (35.64s). On the Power of 10 British Rankings Sally is No.1 for 8 of the indoor events in her age group.
R&NAC male athletes were also at Lee Valley. Craig Christian M40, showed his winter training is going well with 3 indoor PBs, 60m (7.43s), 200m (25.61s) and 400m (57.86s).
