The third race in the Midland Womens Cross Country League Div.2 was held in Droitwich over 6k and making her league debut for Rugby & Northampton was Alice Darke who placed 13th in a time of 29:24 to lead home the team, which finished third. Veteran Lorna Hession came next in 21st spot on 30:23. Sophie Wilkinson-Hargate was next home in 24th place (30,42) and Sophia Hill completed the quartet in 25th place (31.00), she was also the third U20 athlete.
Alison Cobb was next across the line for the veterans in 39th place on 32:15 and also finishing to show their strength in depth were Zoe Shepherd (42nd in 32:30), This also helped the Masters team to 3rd place. Helen Jones (64th in 34:04), Kate Williams (77th in 34:39), Angela Copson (84th in 35:24), Hayley Clarke (86th in 35:30), Minerva Chesser (97th in 36:09) and Tricia Garner (142nd in 40:10) completed an excellent team performance.
After improving throughout the season, the club are now 3rd overall, narrowly ahead of local rivals Coventry Godiva, and with three teams going up they will be pushing for promotion in the fourth and final race at Bromsgrove on Sat 19th February.
