Rugby & Northampton AC took part in the Midlands Cross Country Championships on Saturday and exceeded all expectations.
The U13 girls team finished in 5th position overall with Peyton Almond the leading R & N athlete in 24th position. The U15 boys went one better in finishing in 4th position with Nathan Lamb leading the R & N quartet in 20th position.
Olivia McGhee produced a stunning performance in the U15 girls race as she tracked the leading trio all the way to finish in 4th position, competing against girls a year older than herself.
The medal rush then began !! The U17 women finished in bronze medal position with Madeleine Jacks an outstanding 8th position. The U20 men also finished with the bronze medals as Joseph Comerford led the way in 12th position.
The team performance of the day, however, came from the U17 men. R & N packed no less than six athletes in the top sixteen and convincingly won the title by over 60 points.
The senior men were led home by an inspired Ben Musgrove who raced to an outstanding 20th position to lead home the R & N team in 6th position
