On Saturday 5th November, Rugby & Northampton AC took part in the prestigious National Cross Country relay championships held at Mansfield. The standard of competition was extremely high, but the R & N athletes ran with distinction throughout.
The U13 Girls team of Claudia Terrel, Emil Gascoigne & Amelie Heron ran strongly to finish in 43rd position. The U17 Women’s team of Madeleine Jacks, Ava Rogerson and Jemima Lambert finished in 27th position whilst the U17 men just shaded their team position in finishing in 25th position.
The senior men’s team were led by GB international Josh Lay, and he showed that winter training is going well, as he stormed around to 12th position on the opening leg. The team consisting also of Finlay Ward, Haydn Arnall and Jack Bond all ran well to finish in 29th position and the 4th Midlands team.
The individual run of the day, however, came from Olivia McGhee in the U15 girls’ race, as she stormed to the 4th quickest time of all the runners!
