Saturday saw the annual staging of the English Cross Country relays. The event took place at the Berry Hill Park in Mansfield and the course consisted of woodland and rolling parkland. Rugby & Northampton AC had a really positive championships against the cream of English endurance running.
The senior men’s A team finished in an encouraging 43rd position, with Noah Bennett recording the fastest time of the R & N athletes. The U20 women finished their race in 32nd position, whilst the U17 men finished in 43rd position.
In was the the U13 girls race, however, where the R & N team excelled ! Elsie Rudkin finished in 8th position on the first leg and this outstanding start was continued by Mara Hamilton and then Freya Carty, who brought back the team in an unbelievable 7th position – one of the best ever performances by an R & N team at this level.
