COPSON MAINTAINS UNBEATEN RECORD WITH BRITISH MASTERS CHAMPIONSHIPS TRIUMPH
Rugby & Northampton athlete adds to medal collection with victory in Bath
Rugby & Northampton’s Angela Copson maintained her unbeaten cross country record when claiming victory in the British Masters W65 Championships held in Bath over the weekend.
Copson covered the 6km course in 24 minutes and 31 seconds to win her seventh age group title in this competition. The veteran runner has never been defeated in any British, European, World, or International Cross country race, bringing her gold medal tally to 19.
Running in the combined ladies race with men over 65, Copson had a clear margin of victory in her category, finishing one minute and 12 seconds ahead of her closest rival, Ros Tabor, to place 25th overall.
This latest success was Copson’s 35th BMAF title on all surfaces in W60 and W65 events, and the Masters International athlete – who has broken 24 World Records or bests during her career – now aims for the London Marathon, a distance in which she currently holds the W65 UK record of 3:17.10.
