Saturday saw the return of international athletics to the Birmingham International arena, with Laura Muir and Keeley Hodgkinson leading the way but the R & N youngsters were also there!
The club was invited to compete in the Club Connect Relays – 4 x 200m relays for the leading local clubs prior to the main televised events – and the youngsters did themselves proud. The U13 girls team finished a close 3rd position, whilst both the U13 and U15 boys teams went one better in finishing in second position – the U13 losing by a few inches. The club also had B team in the U13 boys competition and they finished third !!
The result of the day, however, came from the U15 girls team. The girls were up against a formidable Birchfield quartet but the team of Issy Knight, Mary Taylor, Penelope Jones and Grace McCollin drove all the way to the line to finish with victory in a new national record time and a 250 pounds cheque !!
