Finlay Ward of Rugby & Northampton AC led home the mens team in the fourth and final race of the Birmingham & District Cross Country League held at Abington Park, Northampton. The 20 year old finished in a superb 5th place over the four lap course in a time of 30 mins 30 secs and this gave him overall victory in the Junior category for the best aggregate score over three races. He becomes only the 6th athlete from the club to make the top 5 in Division One and led home R&N in all four races to become the Senior Club Champion.
Also producing an excellent run was Fergus Scott in 8th spot on 30.44 and he was followed by a quartet of runners from the club to finish within 11 seconds of one another. Anthony Clancy was 41st in 32:35, Junior Noah Bennett in 44th with 32:40, Adam Wright (45th in 32:44) and Veteran Phil Melling (46th in 32:46). This packing helped the club to finish in 4th place on the day and moved out of the relegation zone to finish 12th in the league from the sixteen teams.
Andrew Johnstone led home the B team in 50th position on 32:56 and he had support from Lewis Cherry (80th in 34:44), Andrew Siggers (96th in 35:23), James Southall (106th in 36:05), Ben Merriman (111th in 36:15) and Sam Jackson (117th in 36:35). The B team finished 3rd.
