Josh Lay produced a stunning run in Northern Ireland to go second on the UK all time U20 rankings for a 5k road race.
He was taking part in the Armagh International 5k and Lay recorded a time of 13 mins 55 secs, which was just one second shy of the British record set by Simon Mugglestone of Westbury Harriers way back in 1987.
Lay, who was ranked no.1 in the UK last year for the U20 1500m and recently won the Midland Cross-Country Championships finished 13th in the 5k won by Aldershot’s Adam Clarke in 13:42.
Rugby & Northampton teammate Elisha De Mello was also in the race and recorded a superb personal best of 14:43 to finish 101st.
