Alistair McDonnell of Rugby & Northampton AC had a terrific run in the Milton Keynes 10k to take victory in a time of 32 mins 41 secs. He became only the 5th man from the club to win a race in the East Midlands Grand Prix Series. McDonnell clinched the win by 4 seconds from M40 veteran Steve Rees-Jones in the eighth and final race of the competition. There were three veterans backing him up in the Senior Mens team, which finished third on the night. They were Dean Oldfield in 29th place on 36:30 ( M40 5th), John Gercs in 42nd with 37:21 ( M45 4th ) and Matt Carroll in 38:36 for 55th overall ( M40 10th ). Daniel Williams was just one place behind Carroll with the same time and Jonathan Burke recorded 39:30 for 70th spot. Closing out the veteran team for R&N was Paul Furness in 71st position on 39:31 (M45 13th ) for second spot on the night, but third for the series with the Senior Men having already sealed the title. Adam Bebbington was the first U20 at Milton Keynes on 39:57, but it was Haydn Arnall who clinched the overall series in the age group with two first places along with a second and third.
In the Ladies section Tori Green, although absent at Milton Keynes, became the first female ever from R&N to win the overall series courtesy of her two wins, two seconds and a fifth. Amy Sarkies was first home from the club in 3rd place to win the F40 race in 39:38 and Sarah Davis became the third athlete from the club to win an overall series title when she made it five wins out of five in the over 50 category by recording 40:39 for 6th lady. The Senior and Veteran ladies team were completed by Rachael Siggers in 10th spot on 42:13. Her third spot in the F40 event placed her 2nd overall in that age group.
The R&N female veterans notched up their seventh team victory with the Seniors winning their sixth to emphatically retain both titles from last year. Judith Rose finished the series in 3rd spot in the F45 section after recording 45:18 for 29th in the race ( F45 4th) and Alison Cobb came 2nd on the night in the F50 event with 46:19 (37th overall), which gave her 4th for the series.
