This category starts at the spritely age of 35 both for men and women and with no age upper cap an athlete can compete indefinitely. Catering for all levels of ability from entry level to international masters athletes, a number of athletes are training and competing successfully well into their late 60’s – age is most certainly no barrier.
Rugby & Northampton AC have two teams competing in the Midland Veterans League (East Division). The first team is called R&N Lions (A team) and the second team is called R&N Saints (B team).
There are four league matches on a Wednesday evening during the summer and the top two teams from each regional division, then go through to the Midland League Cup “A” Final in September (although to qualify for the “A” final a club must finish in the top two in both Men’s and Women’s matches). The lower teams in the league, then compete in the “B” and “C” finals with all matches at the same venue.
Since the merger of the two clubs in 2002, Rugby & Northampton have lifted the Central Weekend TV Challenge Trophy on 10 occasions for winning the combined Midland League Cup “A” final, with their latest victory achieved in 2017. The R&N Ladies team in 2017 won the “A” final for the 9th time, which included a victory for the Saints (B team ) in 2010. The Men, on the other hand have a total of 6 victories in the “A” final, although the Saints team have won the “B” final three times.
In the Midland League (East Division) itself the R&N Ladies have proved themselves unbeatable with 14 straight victories from 2004-2017. The Men haven’t quite matched that, but they do have 11 titles, which included 9 in a row from 2006-2014.
Track and field caters for all the events; some prefer individual events, sprints, jumps, throws, etc. We also have many multi-eventers (decathlon, heptathlon and pentathlon).
Masters also have the opportunity to compete all year round in road races and cross country and indoor track & field events during the winter months at and up to regional/national level.
The summer schedule includes road relay teams and events like the East Midland GP series and the Warwickshire road race series, where the club also runs its own events within these competitions.

We also encourage people to take up coaching and officiating. Many senior athletes do these as well as compete.
