Rugby & Northampton AC claimed yet another emphatic victory in the final Midland UKYDL Upper match at Birchfield on Saturday making it an unprecedented clean sweep of victories over the season. The team saw several new faces who really impressed. Ibrahim Achchi claimed an impressive victory in the 3000m U17 race whilst Joseph Comerford did likewise in the U20 3000m event. Oliver Parker stormed to an impressive victory in the 400m H U20 race whilst Numeiri Saeed dominated the 400m flat race with an impressive time of 49.1 secs.
For the U20 women, Charlotte Bowers threw an outstanding personal best in the hammer to claim victory alongside her discus victory.
The U17 hurdlers reigned supreme with a one – two in the 100m hurdles as both Jayden Allen Bramble and Elliot Godfrey dominated the event. Elliot, in his preferred 400m hurdles race, also smashed his personal best along the way to victory, whilst Jayden claimed victory in the long jump. The U17W saw both Esme Dubois and Olivia Monk claim victories in their respective 100m race, whilst Niamh Hillard, Maia Thompson, Lorna Stenhouse and Evie Marston also claimed fine A string victories.
It was the in the relays where R & N really shone with club records in both U17 men and women 4 x 100m events and the U20 men posting one of the fastest time in the UK in the 4 x 400m
The team will now qualify for the Midlands and Wales regional final to held at Rugby on July 30th
