On Sunday 24th, Rugby and Northampton AC hosted the Chairman’s Cup at its Moulton track – an annual team event for U11 and U13 athletes in Northants. Having swept all before them in the older age groups, expectations were high and the youngsters did not disappoint, claiming an outstanding team victory, winning by over 80 points from its nearest rivals
For the U11 boys, Jack Brawn excelled with an outstanding victory in the 100m. Not to be outdone, David Allen also claimed victories in the 200m, 800m and long jump.
For the U11 girls, Taya Young shone with victories in the long jump and the howler – a feat repeated by a dominant Nia Ubhi in the 100m
The older boys produced a whole string of outstanding performances with victories for both Jaunty Campbell Archer and Charlie Cook in the 200m and javelin respectively. Not to be outdone, the U13 girls also claimed double gold with Grace Kendrick winning the long jump and Martha Pollard the javelin with an enormous throw of 31m 64cm – the third longest throw in the UK this year. An outstanding team performance !
