The Veteran Men from Rugby & Northampton AC finished in 3rd place in the Silverstone 10k, which was the first race in the East Midlands Grand Prix Series and included a record 1173 finishers.

Leading home the club was the R&N Veteran Cross Country Champion Brendan Moen and the 49 year old recorded a time of 36 mins 51 secs to place 31st overall and 6th in the M45 section.

Terry Egan clinched 3rd spot in the M55 competition with 38:27 for 62nd and Nigel Roberts was 14 seconds adrift in 65th, which put him 11th amongst the over 45’s.

The fourth man home for the club was Steve Dixon (133rd in 40:35 ) and this helped the quartet to finish 8th in the Senior Mens team race, but it was Laurence Scott who completed the Veteran team with his time of 42:23 ( M50 20th ).

In the Ladies race Angela Copson suffered a rare defeat in the over 65 category. Her time of 43:34 was only enough for 2nd behind Yuko Gordon (42:50 ) of North Herts Road Runners, who had won bronze behind Copson’s gold in the BMAF XC Champs in March.

Copson led home R&N in 13th overall, followed by Lorna Latimer in 21st with 44:26 and Kate Williams in 53rd on 47:44, which gave her third spot in the W55 category.

The Senior and Veteran Ladies finished in 4th place and closing out the veteran team was Helen Jones in 63rd overall with 48:34 ( F45 10th ).
