COPSON BREAKS MARATHON RECORD
Angela Copson entered the record books again at Sunday’s Manchester Marathon
Rugby & Northampton athlete Angela Copson became the oldest woman to complete a marathon in under 3 hours and 30 minutes on Sunday in Manchester.
In her seventh marathon, Copson led the way for women over 60 and finished 93rd among all females in the race. The 68 year-old completed the 26.2 mile race in 3:24.54 to beat the previous world best for that age by 11.29 minutes.
Copson already holds the British records for the Marathon in both Women’s Over-60 and Women’s Over-65 categories, with 3:14:51 and 3:17:10 respectively.
With her impressive time in Manchester, Copson easily qualifies for next year’s London Marathon, where she will compete in the Over-70’s competition.
